Approving ICX Switches

The ICX switch must be approved so that it can be discovered and monitored by the SmartZone controller.

  • Switches which are not registered through registration rules are automatically moved under the Default group.
  • If registration rules are not present, the switch is moved to the Default group. These switches are not approved in the Default group and are in the offline state.
  • After the switch is registered with the controller successfully, it joins the Default group of the controller. To approve the switch manually, you must move it to a specific group. See Moving the Switches between Groups for more information.

Follow these steps to automatically approve the switch:

  1. Create a registration rule for the switch. See Creating Switch Registration Rules for more information.
  2. Configure the switch to register and join the SmartZone controller. See ICX Switch Configuration and Behavior for more information.
    The switch must join the specific group as configured in the registration rule.
